Ranbir Kapoor’s much-awaited mythological epic, Ramayana, is making headlines once again as Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has clinched the all-India theatrical distribution rights. Helmed by Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari, this ambitious project has industry circles buzzing for both its star power and unprecedented scale.

The film, produced by Namit Malhotra under Prime Focus Studios alongside Monster Mind Creations and co-produced by Yash, is being crafted with a staggering budget reportedly crossing ₹4000 crore. Ranbir, last seen in a string of acclaimed performances, takes on the revered role of Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi joins as Sita and Yash portrays the formidable Ravana. Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey round out the ensemble as Hanuman and Lakshmana respectively, with AR Rahman lending his musical genius.

Trade sources estimate Dharma’s distribution deal at ₹250 crore, marking it as one of Indian cinema’s most significant. Fans have further reason to celebrate, as the film’s trailer—previously showcased at CinemaCon—will be unveiled digitally worldwide on July 18, 2026. Social media is already abuzz with anticipation, especially as the first installment is set for a grand Diwali 2026 release, targeting both IMAX and Dolby Cinema formats for a visually immersive experience.

With Warner Bros Pictures handling overseas distribution and the second part slated for 2027, expectations are sky-high. Audiences can look forward to more updates as the epic’s release approaches.
