Ranbir Kapoor’s highly anticipated mythological epic, Ramayana, is set for a grand release during Diwali 2026. The film has been generating significant attention, especially after its teaser dropped to a range of reactions from audiences.
Director Nitesh Tiwari, whose previous works have often been praised for their storytelling depth, is helming this ambitious project. Produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana brings together an impressive cast, with Kannada superstar Yash taking on the formidable role of Ravan. Notably, Tiwari has revealed that Ravan in this retelling will not be depicted as a conventional antagonist. Instead, the film will explore the character’s positive attributes, including his prowess as a warrior, his scholarship, musical talent, and devotion to Shiva. “See, Ravana had so many aspects to his life... There was so much to him than just being a black character,” the director said in an interview with Collider.
The cast also features Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, and Ravie Dubey in significant roles. Ranbir Kapoor confirmed that both parts of the film will run a combined six hours, hinting at a mammoth cinematic experience.
With its nuanced approach and star power, Ramayana is poised to spark fresh conversations around classic mythology. Fans can look forward to more updates as the Diwali 2026 release draws nearer.
