Rashmika Mandanna to Play MS Subbulakshmi in Gowtham Tinnanuri Biopic

Rashmika Mandanna is set to portray the iconic Carnatic vocalist MS Subbulakshmi in an upcoming biopic directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, known for his acclaimed work on 'Jersey'. The film’s grand launch is scheduled for September 16, coinciding with the 101st birth anniversary of MS Subbulakshmi. This project has been in pre-production for some time, with several actresses considered before Rashmika was finalized for the lead role.

The biopic, which is yet to receive its official title, is being produced by Allu Aravind, Bunny Vas, and Rockline Venkatesh. The regular shooting is planned to commence in October, and the makers are targeting a summer 2027 release. Following the launch event, the production team will announce further details about the cast and crew, as per reports.

Rashmika Mandanna, who has been busy with multiple projects, is currently wrapping up her work on Vijay Deverakonda’s 'Ranabaali', which is slated for theatrical release on September 16. Earlier this year, a special birthday video highlighted Rashmika’s role as Jayamma in 'Ranabaali', reflecting her versatility in taking on diverse characters.

In June, it was reported that Rashmika would headline the MS Subbulakshmi biopic, and the latest updates confirm her involvement as the project moves forward.
