Ravi Teja's Irumudi Faces APTF Backlash Over School Scenes

Ravi Teja’s latest film, Irumudi, is at the centre of a controversy after the Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Federation (APTF) called for the removal of certain scenes. The film, which has been performing strongly at the box office and reportedly crossed the ₹100-crore mark, now faces criticism for its depiction of government schools and teachers.

APTF State President Chennupati Manjula and General Secretary Basavalingarao have objected to a particular sequence involving a female teacher. According to the federation, this scene could harm the public image of government educators and institutions. The APTF specifically pointed out that the film shows the name board of Sileru Zilla Parishad High School in Alluri Sitharama Raju district, and students are depicted wearing uniforms associated with Andhra Pradesh government schools.

The federation argued that connecting a real and recognisable government school to unethical behaviour in the film could create a negative perception among viewers. They emphasised that films have the power to shape public opinion and urged filmmakers to be more sensitive when representing teachers and educational settings. In their statement, the APTF demanded the removal of the objectionable scenes and an apology from the film’s makers to the teaching community. They also warned of statewide protests if their concerns are not addressed.

As Irumudi continues its theatrical run, attention now turns to how the film’s team will respond to these demands from the teachers’ federation.
