Director Shiva Nirvana explained the title's spiritual and emotional symbolism

Shiva Nirvana clarified Irumudi is not a remake

Ravi Teja starred in the emotional family thriller 'Irumudi', which was released on August 21, 2023. The film, directed by Shiva Nirvana, also featured Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead and Baby Nakshatra portraying Ravi Teja’s daughter. Known for his recent string of family-centric entertainers, Ravi Teja took on a role that explores complex familial bonds in this project.

At the trailer launch event held in Bhimavaram, director Shiva Nirvana addressed the reasoning behind the film’s unique title. He stated, “There are three layers in the film. A bond between father and son, Irumudi (two-knots). The bond between Lord Ayyappa and his devotees, Irumudi. There is a crime angle with multiple knots. This is why we felt Irumudi is the right title.” Shiva Nirvana further clarified that, despite some speculation, the film is not a remake. He emphasized his intention to present a fresh narrative, saying, “No family drama features Irumudi-level rawness in Telugu.”

The trailer launch generated interest among audiences, with the director’s explanation providing clarity on the film’s thematic depth. The symbolic use of 'Irumudi' connects both spiritual and emotional elements, reflecting the film’s multi-layered storytelling.
