Rukmini Vasanth in Talks to Portray P. Susheela in Biopic Backed by A.R. Rahman

Rukmini Vasanth is reportedly being considered for the lead role in a biopic based on the legendary playback singer P. Susheela, according to recent industry reports. Rukmini, who has been gaining recognition for her performances in recent years, could soon take on one of the most challenging roles of her career if the project moves forward.

The biopic, which is said to be in the early stages of development, may have the support of Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman as a producer. While neither the casting nor the film itself has been officially announced, sources indicate that discussions are underway to bring Susheela’s remarkable journey to the big screen. P. Susheela’s career spans several decades, with thousands of songs recorded across multiple Indian languages, making her a revered figure in the music industry.

A.R. Rahman’s involvement adds significant weight to the project. In 2021, Rahman shared that P. Susheela had expressed her desire to see her life story adapted into a film after watching the Telugu version of his movie '99 Songs.' According to Rahman, Susheela had personally requested his help in making her biopic a reality. This connection has fueled speculation that Rahman could play a pivotal role in the production.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding the cast, director, or production house. The project remains in the rumor stage, but anticipation is building within the industry and among fans of both Rukmini Vasanth and P. Susheela. More details are expected to emerge once the makers finalize the team and make an official announcement.
