Salman Khan’s long-awaited film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace has finally moved a step closer to release after securing a crucial government clearance. The Bollywood star, known for his consistent box office presence, headlines this war drama that has faced multiple setbacks due to regulatory concerns.
Originally titled Battle of Galwan, the film encountered intervention from authorities who requested changes to both its title and narrative, reflecting the evolving diplomatic relationship between India and China. As a result, the makers reworked the story to present India-China relations in a more positive light, and the movie was retitled as Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace.
Chitrangada Singh stars opposite Salman Khan in this project, which is directed by Apoorva Lakhia. The film’s journey has been marked by delays, with earlier reports highlighting that the Ministry of Defence had asked for fictionalization of certain elements. Until recently, the movie had not been cleared for public exhibition due to pending approvals.
According to a recent report in Bollywood Hungama, officials from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting have now expressed satisfaction with the revised version and have granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC). This development means the film can now proceed to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for further clearance, a necessary step before it can be released in cinemas.
The latest government approval is a significant milestone for the makers, who have been waiting for an update on the film’s fate. The new version’s focus on positive diplomatic themes appears to have played a role in securing the NOC, bringing Salman Khan’s most delayed project closer to its theatrical debut.
