Salman Khan to Star in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Grand Period Action Drama

Bollywood icon Salman Khan is all set to headline a lavish period action drama, with acclaimed filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra at the helm. The project has been making waves since initial reports linked Farhan Akhtar as director, but fresh updates confirm Mehra will lead the venture instead.

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, celebrated for his work on "Rang De Basanti" and "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag," is collaborating with Salman Khan for the first time. While Farhan Akhtar steps back from directing, he is expected to produce the film under the Excel Entertainment banner. According to sources, Salman was "bowled over by the characteristics of his part" after hearing the script, and the actor will undergo a significant transformation to portray one of Indian history's iconic figures.

Previously, Mehra had invested significant effort in developing the mythological epic "Karna" with Suriya, but shelved it due to budgetary hurdles. Now, his focus has shifted to this ambitious venture with Khan. The project has generated considerable excitement among fans and on social media, with many eager to see Salman in a historic avatar.

Salman Khan is currently occupied with an action film directed by Vamsi Paidipally and will later move to a superhero film with Raj & DK. If schedules align, the much-awaited period drama is expected to begin filming in summer 2027, promising a larger-than-life cinematic experience for audiences.
