Satya Dev, known for his versatile performances in Telugu cinema, recently opened up about his journey to landing a pivotal role in Akshay Kumar's Bollywood film, Ram Setu. This revelation comes as Satya Dev gears up for his next project, Rao Bahadur, which is already generating considerable anticipation among his fans.
In an interview, Satya Dev recounted how casting director Shruti Mahajan approached him for the role in Ram Setu. Initially, he declined the offer, unsure about the part since no details were shared with him at first. However, persistence from the casting team and a hint about the character piqued his interest. Satya Dev shared, "Shruti gave me a hint about my character, and I was shocked that they were offering such a significant part for me. Initially, it went to other top stars in the South, but they didn’t give the nod. Abhishek (director) wanted only me, and I was surprised that a Bollywood director was aware of my body of work."
Directed by Abhishek Sharma, Ram Setu marked Satya Dev's only Bollywood project so far, and he expressed gratitude for being handpicked for the role. He noted that, despite the film's below-expectations box office performance, the response to his character was overwhelmingly positive. "What I thought my role would bring me, it gave me 5X," Satya Dev said, reflecting on the unexpected rewards and recognition following the film’s release.
Looking ahead, Satya Dev is set to continue his momentum with Rao Bahadur. Fans are eager to see how he builds on his growing pan-Indian appeal in his upcoming ventures.
