Shraddha Kapoor’s return in the horror-comedy franchise Stree has been officially confirmed, with Stree 3 now scheduled to hit cinemas in 2028. The announcement came from producer Dinesh Vijan during a recent FICCI Frames 2026 event, where he discussed the future of the popular series alongside actor Rajkummar Rao.
Dinesh Vijan highlighted the crucial role of director Amar Kaushik in shaping the Stree universe. Kaushik, who helmed the previous installments, is currently directing Mahavatar, a film based on Bhagwan Parshuram’s story. According to Vijan, Kaushik will wrap up Mahavatar by June 2027 and then shift focus to Stree 3, with filming set to begin at the end of next year.
Vijan teased fans with hints about the upcoming threequel, stating, “Anything you have thought, remove that from your mind. If I say anything more, you’ll be very upset with me because he has just finished writing it. And he feels I give out too many spoilers! But everything you have loved about it, you’ll get. However, where it starts and where it ends will be a complete revelation.”
He also suggested that Stree 3 could target a major holiday release, mentioning Independence Day or Christmas in 2028 as possible dates. The film continues to be produced under Dinesh Vijan’s banner, with Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao expected to reprise their roles. Social media buzz has already picked up, with fans expressing excitement over the long-awaited update and speculating about the film’s new direction.
