Shriya Saran’s Sandakari Locks September 18 Release After Award Controversy

Shriya Saran’s long-delayed film Sandakari, co-starring Vemal, is finally set for theatrical release on September 18, 2026. The Tamil romantic comedy, directed by R. Madhesh and produced by Boss Production Corporation, was originally shot in 2019 and faced multiple postponements, with its initial release plan dating back to 2020.

Sandakari drew significant attention earlier this year when it won three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards for 2020, despite never having been released. The film secured the Best Film (Third Prize), with Amrish recognized as Best Male Playback Singer and Iyyappan as Best Art Director. This unusual situation sparked debate on social media, with many questioning how an unreleased film could be eligible for such honors.

The movie is a remake of the 2012 Malayalam hit My Boss, and features a strong ensemble cast including Prabhu, Sathyan, K. R. Vijaya, Rekha, Dev Gill, Uma Padmanabhan, Punnagai Poo Gheetha, Crane Manohar, and Mahanadhi Shankar. Amrish has composed the music, while R. B.
