Sumanth Prabhas, known for his breakout performance in Mem Famous, recently shared the story behind his decision to turn down the lead role in the critically acclaimed film Raju Weds Rambai. The romantic drama, starring Akhil Raj Uddemari and Tejaswini, has created a buzz for its bold narrative and authentic depiction, under the direction of debutant Sailu Kaampati.
During promotions for his latest film Godari Gattupaina, Sumanth Prabhas disclosed that Sailu Kaampati initially wanted him to headline Raju Weds Rambai. The actor recounted, "I was supposed to do Raju Weds Rambai. Sailu anna felt I would be the right fit. I found the story crazy and saw the excitement levels of Sailu anna. I told him that the film will become a blockbuster, and people will talk about it. At that time, I didn’t want to be part of another Telangana-backdrop movie after Mem Famous. I might not be the correct person for it, but the script is excellent. The execution was even more impactful than the narration," Sumanth Prabhas said.
The film has been well received, earning both critical applause and box office success. Sumanth’s candid comments have sparked fresh discussions among fans, especially on social media, about what could have been if he had taken the part.
With Raju Weds Rambai’s success, attention now turns to Sumanth Prabhas’s upcoming projects and Sailu Kaampati’s next directorial moves.
