Suriya is gearing up for a dynamic return with the rural action entertainer Karuppu, which is all set to hit theatres on May 14. The film, helmed by RJ Balaji, marks another ambitious outing for Suriya following his recent experimental roles, and is generating considerable interest among fans eager to see him back in a mass avatar.

Originally, the team had AR Rahman on board for the music, but the Oscar-winning composer exited the project due to personal reasons. Stepping into these big shoes is Sai Abyankkar, who candidly shared, "When I got Karuppu offer it was literally surprising for me. I didn’t get any clear answer why AR Rahman sir is out of the project. I spoke to Rahman sir also & he was fine that I’ll be doing music." He further revealed that the film pulses with vibrant energy, blending both mass appeal and spiritual undertones. According to Abyankkar, re-recording work is already 70% complete and the audio launch is on the horizon.

Trisha features as the female lead, adding star power to the project, while production is handled by S. R. Prakash Babu and S. R. Prabhu under Dream Warrior Pictures. Notably, Karuppu will also be accessible to Telugu audiences as Veera Bhadrudu, expanding its reach across South India.

With the release date approaching and audio launch preparations underway, all eyes are on Suriya and the team to see how this rural actioner shapes up at the summer box office.
