Suriya’s Karuppu Faces Major Release Setback
Suriya’s much-awaited mass entertainer Karuppu has been hit by a sudden crisis, with all its 9 AM shows cancelled across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu due to unresolved financial issues. This unexpected setback has left fans, who were eagerly anticipating his strong comeback after a series of underwhelming releases, deeply frustrated and vocal online.
The film, helmed by RJ Balaji and backed by Dream Warrior Pictures, sees Suriya in dual looks alongside a star-studded lineup featuring Trisha Krishnan, Natty Subramaniam, RJ Balaji, Swasika, Supreeth Reddy, and Yogi Babu. The trouble began when theatre chains in Tamil Nadu put bookings on hold, and producer S. R. Prabhu officially announced the morning show cancellations, issuing a public apology: > "Due to unavoidable reasons 9am shows will be cancelled for Karuppu. Our sincere apologies to everyone!" S. R. Prabhu
The situation worsened as the overseas premieres, especially in the USA, were also called off. Social media has been abuzz with disappointed fans expressing their shock and dismay, given Suriya’s high hopes for this project. Despite the initial chaos, Suriya himself has intervened, negotiating with financiers in a bid to clear hurdles and salvage the afternoon shows.
All eyes are now on whether these efforts will allow Karuppu to finally see the light of day, with fans and the industry waiting for an official update.
