Suriya's much-anticipated film, Karuppu, has achieved a remarkable milestone by sealing a whopping ₹110 crore pre-release deal covering music, satellite, and OTT rights. This deal, one of the biggest in the actor's career, comes just as the film gears up for its global theatrical release on May 14, 2026.
After a string of mixed results at the box office, Suriya is betting big on Karuppu, a project helmed by director RJ Balaji and produced by Dream Warrior Pictures. The film's intriguing narrative follows Suriya as a lawyer who, after being possessed by a deity, wages a battle against social evils a role that promises both intensity and depth. Trisha Krishnan stars as the female lead, with Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Yogi Babu, and others featuring in pivotal roles. As per reports, the film’s budget stands around ₹130 crore, underlining the scale and ambition of the venture.
Karuppu’s soundtrack, composed by Sai Abhyankkar, is already generating buzz following the release of the opening song sung by Simbu, who lent his voice as a gesture of friendship without charging a fee. Suriya reportedly thanked Simbu with a special gift, further underscoring the camaraderie that marks this production. The satellite rights have been acquired by Zee Tamil, while Amazon Prime Video is set to stream the film digitally, reflecting immense market confidence in the project.
Director RJ Balaji shared his passion for the script, stating, "I wrote Karuppu for Suriya sir and have made it only for him." He also highlighted the dynamic between Suriya and Trisha, both industry veterans, promising engaging scenes for audiences.
