Suriya’s Karuppu Makes a Thunderous Start in Tamil Nadu

Suriya’s much-anticipated film Karuppu arrived in cinemas today after overcoming release day challenges, drawing massive crowds across Tamil Nadu right from the early shows. The energetic response from fans, many of whom had waited anxiously after the release hurdles, translated into packed auditoriums and a festive atmosphere at theatres.

Directed by RJ Balaji, who has been steadily building his reputation as a filmmaker with a fresh sensibility, and backed by Dream Warrior Pictures, Karuppu brings together a notable ensemble cast. Alongside Suriya, the film features Trisha Krishnan, Indrans, Natty, Swasika, and Anagha Maaya in pivotal roles, with music composed by Sai Abyankkar. The film notched a remarkable achievement by becoming the fourth biggest Tamil film ever on BookMyShow, reportedly selling over 40,000 tickets per hour across Tamil and Telugu languages. Only Leo, Coolie, and Jailer are ahead of it in this record.

Fans celebrated the release with visible enthusiasm, sharing their excitement on social media and thronging multiplexes from the morning itself. The performance of the Telugu version is still under watch, as industry trackers wait to see how it connects with audiences beyond Tamil Nadu.

With Karuppu off to such a kinetic start, all eyes are now on its weekend box office performance and whether this momentum will carry forward in other regions.
