Tharun Bhascker, celebrated for his fresh storytelling in Telugu cinema, is now promoting his upcoming film Gayappada Simham, set to release on May 1st. Known for breaking away from traditional formats, Tharun’s latest comments have reignited conversation around creativity in Tollywood.
Having made a successful transition from director to actor, Tharun emphasized his steadfast refusal to make template-based entertainers. Reflecting on the state of mainstream cinema, he remarked, "If I make a film with the regular formula of one introduction, four songs, and five fights, that would be my last project. Not just me, even the producer backing it would land in big trouble. Hence, I don’t even like taking advances for such films. Otherwise, my producer will end up swimming in Hussain Sagar," the Pelli Choopulu director said in a recent interview.
His candid stance has resonated with many fans and netizens, who have taken to social media to appreciate his honest take on the changing audience preferences. With conventional formulas no longer guaranteed to draw crowds, Tharun’s approach reflects a broader industry trend prioritizing originality.
As anticipation builds for Gayappada Simham, Tharun is also busy with the much-awaited sequel to Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi. Fans can look forward to more unconventional narratives from the filmmaker in the near future.
