Christopher Nolan’s latest cinematic venture, The Odyssey, has made a thunderous impact even before its global release, headlined by stars like Matt Damon and Zendaya. The film’s anticipation soared as it shattered pre-sale records at the UK’s prestigious BFI IMAX, underscoring Nolan’s consistent track record of box-office supremacy following his recent triumph with Oppenheimer.
Within the first 24 hours, The Odyssey sold an astonishing 28,000 tickets at the BFI IMAX, amassing nearly $1 million—a feat that leaves the previous benchmarks set by Dune: Part Two and even Nolan’s own Oppenheimer far behind. The current sales more than double those of Dune: Part Two, which garnered $490,000, and significantly surpass Oppenheimer's $340,000 opening-day sales at the same venue.
Social media has been abuzz with excitement as netizens express astonishment at the film’s record-breaking trend. The star-studded cast, featuring Matt Damon, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron, has only amplified the buzz, with similar strong pre-sale momentum observed in India as well.
With a month still left for its official release, all eyes are now on how The Odyssey will perform when it finally hits theatres worldwide. Fans can expect more updates as the release date approaches.
