Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas, who is gearing up for the release of the period drama Pallichattambi directed by Dijo Jose Antony, has officially withdrawn from the much-anticipated NTR–Neel Telugu film. This unexpected move marks another setback for the project, stirring disappointment among fans who were eagerly awaiting his Telugu debut.
Tovino, fresh from promoting his new film alongside Kayadu Lohar, addressed the Telugu media and explained his decision. He emphasized the contrasting working styles between Malayalam and Telugu industries, saying, "I would definitely love to do a Telugu film. The working culture is quite different in Malayalam cinema. We usually complete a film in one go (a single schedule), whereas in Telugu, there are multiple schedules." This candid revelation has left NTR's fanbase surprised and sparked considerable discussion on social media.
Elaborating further, Tovino stated, “I don’t like doing multiple films at the same time. I prefer finishing one before moving on to another. With Telugu films, I may have to wait almost a year for completion. I understand the scale is bigger here, but doing one Telugu film could affect four to five of my Malayalam films. I can’t dishonor my commitments by waiting an entire year for one project.” His remarks underline the scheduling challenges faced by actors crossing over industries, and his exit is seen as a blow for the NTR–Neel collaboration.
With the Telugu promotions for Pallichattambi in full swing ahead of its April 10 release, fans are now left to speculate on who might replace Tovino in the NTR–Neel project. The industry waits to see if the team can recover from these consecutive hurdles and get the film back on track.
