Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai made waves with its first-look teaser, introducing a lively romantic comedy under the direction of David Dhawan. The teaser, released on April 14, gives fans a glimpse of Varun’s character Jass, who finds himself in a comic love triangle with Mrunal Thakur’s Baani and Pooja Hegde’s Preet.
Director David Dhawan, known for his signature comedy entertainers, returns to form after a string of collaborations with Varun, including hits like Judwaa 2 and Coolie No 1. The film also marks Varun’s first on-screen pairing with both Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. Produced by Ramesh Taurani for Tips Films, the project boasts a vibrant supporting cast featuring Chunky Pandey, Maniesh Paul, Jimmy Sheirgill, and Mouni Roy. The first look even revives the nostalgic hit song "Ishq Sona Hai" in a fresh, contemporary style.
However, the promotional strategy drew backlash online. Social media users criticized the teaser’s heavy use of AI-generated babies, calling it a sign of “laziness” and warning that "AI slop will cause more harm to the industry and that it should be restricted immediately in films," as per online comments. Despite the controversy, anticipation remains high for the film’s theatrical release, which is now scheduled for May 22, 2026.
With promotions underway and strong buzz, fans are eager to see how this comedy unfolds on the big screen.
