Vijay Deverakonda's upcoming period action drama, Ranabaali, has undergone key changes after recent test screenings. The film, directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, is set against the backdrop of the British-induced famine in the 1860s. Rashmika Mandanna stars alongside Deverakonda, bringing together a popular lead pair for this Tollywood project.
Rahul Sankrityan, known for his previous work in the genre, revealed in a recent interview that he organized test screenings for two different audience groups. The feedback indicated that two violent scenes were particularly disturbing and disrupted the flow of the narrative. Responding to this, the director decided to reduce the intensity of these sequences, aiming for a more balanced viewing experience. "Based on the audience feedback, we toned down the intensity of two violent sequences as they were deeply disturbing and affected the following portions," the director said.
This move comes at a time when concerns about excessive violence in Telugu cinema have been growing. By making these adjustments, the team behind Ranabaali appears to be taking audience sensitivities seriously, hoping to deliver a film that resonates with a wider section of viewers.
Ranabaali is scheduled for release on October 16, 2026. With its historical setting and star cast, the film has already generated significant interest ahead of its theatrical debut.
