Vijay’s Jana Nayagan Faces Shocking OTT Setback

Thalapathy Vijay’s much-hyped film Jana Nayagan has taken an unexpected hit, with its digital rights deal suffering a massive blow after a piracy leak. The movie, helmed by director H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, was originally positioned as one of the year’s most anticipated Sankranthi attractions. However, censor board issues and mounting political distractions in Tamil Nadu have left the project in limbo.

When Amazon Prime initially secured the digital rights for a record-breaking ₹120 crores, the buzz around Jana Nayagan was at its peak. But with the film’s uncertified status lingering and a leak surfacing online, Amazon Prime canceled its deal. As per reports, Zee Studios stepped in, but their new offer is only ₹50 crores for the streaming rights across all languages—slashing the film’s digital valuation by more than half due to the piracy impact.

There are currently no takers for the theatrical rights, with the team struggling to recover their massive ₹500 crore investment. The cast, including Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, and Bobby Deol, as well as music from Anirudh, had initially fueled high expectations. Now, the future of Jana Nayagan hangs in the balance, with the release date entirely dependent on closing this drastically reduced OTT deal.

Fans are left disappointed and the makers face mounting losses as they await a final censor certificate and hope for a turnaround. All eyes are on whether Jana Nayagan can still salvage its fortunes amid this unprecedented setback.
