Vijay’s Jana Nayagan faces fresh uncertainty as theatrical deals for the highly anticipated film have been officially scrapped following the star’s directive.

The H. Vinoth-directed social drama, produced by KVN Productions, was originally set for a grand January 9 release, but censor-related complications pushed it into indefinite delay. With more than five months passing and no confirmed release date, speculation has been rife among fans, especially with Vijay’s birthday in June sparking hopes for a celebratory premiere.

Reports from Tamil media indicate that both non-theatrical and theatrical agreements have now been cancelled. Vijay has reportedly advised the production house to refund all amounts to distributors and keep control of the theatrical rights. "All the refund formalities will be completed very soon as per the speculations from the Tamil media," sources noted, reflecting the actor’s commitment to a transparent process.

Jana Nayagan also stars Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, and Bobby Deol, and is said to be inspired by the essence of Bhagavanth Kesari. While the film’s fate remains closely watched by the industry and audience alike, the move to self-release signals a new approach for Vijay’s final act.

Fans now await official word on when the film will finally hit screens, with anticipation building for an update in the coming weeks.
