Shocker in the industry as Vijay Sethupathi teams up with legendary director Mani Ratnam for a new project, only for its OTT rights to be snapped up by Netflix for what many see as a surprisingly modest ₹20 crores. This development comes right after Mani Ratnam’s previous outing, Thug Life, failed to impress, placing extra scrutiny on his next move.

The film, which also stars the luminous Sai Pallavi as the female lead, is expected to commence shooting in July. With AR Rahman on board composing the score and production handled by Madras Talkies in association with Lyca Productions and India Talkies, expectations had been high for a sizeable OTT deal. Instead, the reported sale price is raising eyebrows across Tollywood and social media, where fans are questioning the low figure given the director’s stature.
