Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi are set to headline legendary director Mani Ratnam's latest untitled project, which is generating significant buzz for its ambitious and tightly planned shooting schedule. Mani Ratnam, known for his meticulous filmmaking, is now adopting a swift approach with this film, aiming to wrap principal photography in less than 50 days.
Following a string of acclaimed works, Mani Ratnam teams up with two of Indian cinema's most versatile stars. The film is produced by Madras Talkies, with Oscar-winner AR Rahman composing the score. The shoot kicks off in Kolkata on July 5th, with a 20-day schedule, followed by a second phase in Chennai in August for another 20 days. Reportedly, the remaining ten days will be reserved for patchwork and scenes not requiring the lead pair.
This brisk timeline is considered a smart move, especially given the packed schedules of both Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi, who are currently among the industry's most sought-after talents. The production team has already secured major non-theatrical deals, including digital rights sold for ₹20 crore, along with overseas theatrical and audio rights.
With plans to release the film before the end of the year, expectations are high. Fans can look forward to more updates as the shoot progresses and promotional material begins to surface soon.
