Vijay’s much-awaited film Jana Nayagan has finally secured a revised certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), ending a prolonged period of uncertainty for the makers and fans alike. The film, which had previously received an ‘A’ certificate, underwent further modifications as suggested by the Board, leading to a fresh round of certification.

Directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan has been in the spotlight for nearly seven months due to repeated delays in the censor process. The film was originally submitted to the CBFC in December 2025, but objections over certain political references and specific scenes led to multiple rounds of scrutiny and edits. The producers even approached the courts for relief, and the film was eventually reviewed by the Revising Committee. After agreeing to several changes, the team managed to secure the necessary clearance.

In a notable development, the final runtime now stands at 3 hours, 3 minutes, and 52 seconds, with 41 seconds of additional footage included after the latest modifications. However, the journey was not without setbacks—during the delay, parts of the film and later a high-definition copy reportedly surfaced on piracy platforms, posing significant challenges for the production house.

With the re-certification now complete, anticipation is building around the film’s release. Trade circles are abuzz with speculation that July 24 could be the new release date, though an official confirmation from KVN Productions is still awaited.
