Yash's Toxic Telugu Deal Puts Dil Raju in a Tough Spot After Disastrous Release

Yash’s latest film, Toxic, released in Telugu states on August 26, 2026, with top producer Dil Raju handling its distribution. Known for his confidence in big projects, Dil Raju had acquired the Telugu distribution rights for Toxic at a high price, reportedly close to ₹80 crores after a revision from the initial ₹120 crores deal. The film, produced by KVN Productions, generated significant buzz before release, especially as Yash’s previous projects had set high expectations among fans.

However, Toxic’s release has been met with a disastrous response at the box office. Social media has been rife with speculation about Dil Raju’s potential financial losses, with some rumors suggesting that the makers might compensate him with the distribution rights of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film Kaaka. These claims have been debunked, as Dil Raju’s agreement was directly with Yash, who is also a partner in Toxic, and not with KVN Productions. There is no connection between Dil Raju and the distribution rights of Kaaka.

The deal for Toxic was structured on a refundable basis, meaning Yash is contractually obligated to refund Dil Raju within 45 days if the film underperforms. This arrangement puts the onus on Yash to return a substantial sum, given the poor word of mouth and box office results. If Yash does not refund the dues promptly, Dil Raju may have to wait for the actor to allocate dates for a future project as compensation, a process that could take years. In contrast, had the agreement been with KVN Productions, Dil Raju might have expected a quicker resolution, possibly by Sankranthi.

Earlier this year, Dil Raju faced setbacks with other releases such as Biker and Gaayapadda Simham, making the Toxic situation particularly challenging. The industry is now watching to see whether Yash will settle the dues in full or propose an alternative arrangement.
