Devi Sri Prasad, popularly known as DSP, is all set to step into the world of acting with the upcoming film Yellamma, helmed by Venu Yeldandi of Balagam fame and produced by Dil Raju. After delivering the critically acclaimed Balagam, Venu teams up with Dil Raju for this rural love story, hoping to recreate similar magic.

Yellamma has been in the spotlight not only for DSP’s acting debut but also for its search for a leading lady who can anchor the narrative. The makers initially considered top actors like Nani, Sharwanand, and Nithiin for the male lead, but the project ultimately became DSP's launchpad. The role of the heroine is described as both pivotal and performance-driven, with the story largely revolving around her character.

According to reports, Sai Pallavi was first approached for the role when Nani was attached, but she exited the project. Keerthy Suresh showed interest next, though she too decided not to sign. The producers have now turned to Mrunal Thakur, reportedly offering her a substantial remuneration to take on the challenging deglam role. Industry buzz suggests top actresses are reluctant because the heroine’s part is makeup-free and the film marks DSP's acting debut rather than a major star’s project.

With the team eager to finalize the female lead and begin shooting, all eyes are on whether Mrunal Thakur will accept the offer and bring her talent to Yellamma’s unique narrative.
