Deewana, Gatta Kusthi 2, and Heart Beat S3 Anchor July's OTT Wave

Harshith Reddy and Sneha Manimegalai’s Telugu romantic drama Deewana is set to stream on Aha from July 30 for Gold subscribers, with general access from July 31. Directed by Sreekanth Sangishetty and produced by Geetha Arts, Deewana arrives on OTT just six weeks after its June 19 theatrical release—a move reflecting the new norm for mid-budget Telugu films. This rapid transition is drawing attention from both fans and cinema exhibitors, who are concerned about shrinking theatrical windows.

Sports drama Gatta Kusthi 2, starring Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi and directed by Chella Ayyavu, lands on Netflix July 31, streaming in multiple languages including Telugu. The film follows a successful theatrical run and is part of a broader trend where South Indian films are prioritizing swift, multi-language digital debuts. Tamil feel-good drama Chinna Chinna Aasai, with Madhubala and Indrans, premiered on JioHotstar from July 28, available in several regional languages, further expanding the reach of regional cinema.

Medical drama fans can catch Heart Beat Season 3 on JioHotstar from July 30, with Deepa Balu and Anumol returning to continue Reena's journey at AM Hospital. The simultaneous Telugu and South Indian language release is designed to maximize audience engagement across regions.

Other notable arrivals include the Telugu crime series Azadi 501 (Aha, July 29), Bollywood rom-com Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai (ZEE5, July 31), and the animated epic The Legend of Karna (Sony LIV). Family-friendly films like Balan: The Boy (ZEE5) and Love Oh Love (Prime Video) add variety, while international titles such as The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare (Netflix) and Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle I (Prime Video) broaden the selection.

This packed OTT slate comes as producers increasingly lock digital rights before theatrical runs conclude. Deals like Teja Sajja’s Zombie Reddy 2 (₹45–50 crore non-theatrical rights) and Varun Tej’s Korean Kanakaraju (₹26 crore digital deal) show how streaming platforms are now central to film financing. Industry sources note, "the OTT market has crashed big time, and closing the deal itself has now become a big task," highlighting the challenges in securing lucrative digital agreements.

With so many fresh releases, Telugu and South Indian audiences are spoilt for choice as July ends, marking a new era of rapid, multi-platform premieres.
