Karan Johar has officially announced that his landmark 2006 film, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, will soon come alive again as a web series. Known for pushing boundaries in Bollywood, Karan's decision to adapt KANK for the digital space has already set fans abuzz with excitement and nostalgia.
The original film, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Rani Mukerji, was produced by Dharma Productions and made headlines for its bold take on infidelity and marital discord. While KANK divided audiences at release, it has since earned a cult following for its nuanced portrayal of imperfect relationships. Karan Johar, reflecting on the film’s legacy, shared, “We're actually adapting it into a long-form series... a long-form show for a platform, which I'm not able to give you too many details about right now, but it will be out soon.”
He also recounted how the film’s candid storytelling shocked viewers at the time, saying, “People judge what happens in their homes… but they don’t want to watch it on celluloid.” Although details about casting and streaming partners are still under wraps, Karan promised updates in the near future.
Fans can also look forward to Koffee with Karan Season 9, which Karan confirmed will premiere this Diwali. With both projects on the horizon, 2026 promises to be a banner year for Dharma loyalists eager for drama and conversation.
