Karthi’s Sardar 2 Arrives on Amazon Prime Video After Theatrical Setback

Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video

Karthi’s latest outing, Sardar 2, is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video in multiple languages, including Telugu, just three weeks after its theatrical debut. The film, directed by PS Mithran, had generated considerable anticipation as a sequel to the 2022 hit Sardar, but struggled to meet expectations at the box office following its release.

Sardar 2 features Karthi in dual roles, supported by a cast that includes SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, and Rajisha Vijayan. The production is backed by S Lakshman Kumar and Ishan Saksena under Prince Pictures and IVY Entertainment, with music composed by Sam CS. The rapid transition from theatres to OTT gives the film a renewed chance to connect with audiences who may have missed it during its short theatrical run.

Earlier coverage had noted that Sardar 2 was a disappointment for Karthi, with the film struggling at the box office since its opening weekend. Despite this, the move to a major streaming platform like Amazon Prime Video offers the spy action thriller an opportunity to reach a wider audience and potentially receive a more favorable response in the digital space.

The decision to release Sardar 2 on OTT so soon after its theatrical run reflects changing industry trends, where streaming platforms are increasingly becoming the go-to destination for films that underperform in cinemas. For fans of Karthi and those interested in action thrillers, the film’s availability on Prime Video makes it easily accessible for home viewing.
