Ram Charan’s blockbuster Peddi, which grossed over ₹400 crore globally, is set to make its much-awaited OTT debut on Netflix this week, highlighting a packed slate of digital premieres. The film, directed by Buchi Babu Sana and featuring Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jagapathi Babu, will stream in multiple South Indian languages starting July 9, 2026, after its phenomenal theatrical run.
Meanwhile, the Telugu box office experienced a lackluster first weekend in July, with new releases Nagabandham and Rao Bahadur falling short of expectations despite initial buzz. According to reports, "both these films under-performed considering the buzz, budgets and the footfalls". Samantha’s Maa Inti Bangaaram, however, continued its steady run, while Alia Bhatt's Alpha failed to make an impact in Telugu states.
On the OTT front, viewers are spoilt for choice as Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s 61st film Sing Geetham, Sunny Deol’s legal drama Ikka, and the inspiring series Made in India: A Titan Story all land on major platforms this week. Family dramas like Parimala and Co, sports-themed Balti, and the Malayalam documentary Land of Football round out the releases, appealing to diverse tastes.
With Akhil’s Lenin gearing up for a grand theatrical launch next Friday, expectations are high for a turnaround at the Telugu box office, while streaming audiences enjoy a festival of fresh content.
