Taapsee Pannu pushes limits with Gandhari on Netflix
Taapsee Pannu is set to challenge the definition of an action hero in her upcoming Netflix film Gandhari, delivering riveting blindfolded action sequences that demand both physical and emotional grit. Known for taking on unconventional roles, Taapsee now steps into perhaps her most demanding part yet a mother navigating a world of darkness to protect her child.
Directed by Devashish Makhija and penned by Kanika Dhillon, Gandhari is produced by Kathha Productions. The film draws inspiration from the Mahabharata, with its title referencing Queen Gandhari, who famously wore a blindfold to share her husband's blindness. Taapsee’s portrayal sees her character fighting not just adversaries but her own vulnerability, as she performs action scenes entirely without the use of sight "relying only on instinct and muscle memory," as per reports. This inventive approach reimagines what audiences expect from cinematic action.
The supporting cast includes Swastika Mukherjee and Ishwak Singh, adding further depth to the drama. The teaser’s gritty tone and focus on a mother’s relentless spirit have already sparked curiosity on social media, though the release date is yet to be confirmed.
With Gandhari, fans can expect a fusion of raw emotion and stylized action, and anticipation is high for Taapsee Pannu’s next bold move in the OTT space.
