Subash Chandra helms the romantic drama 'Godari Gattupaina', now streaming and headlined by Sumanth Prabhas and debutante Nidhi Pradeep. Produced by Abhinav Rao, the film has generated curiosity for its Godavari backdrop and musical focus, with Naga Vamshi composing.
Set in the picturesque region of Velpuru, the story follows Raju (Sumanth Prabhas), an auto driver with a heart of gold, who falls for engineering student Maaya (Nidhi Pradeep). Initially at odds, their relationship gradually evolves, complicated by Maaya's loyalty to her father Sam Babu (Jagapathi Babu). The film blends romance and family drama, aiming for an emotional, musical tone.
Sumanth Prabhas (Raju) delivers a sincere performance, effortlessly adopting the local accent and portraying innocence without typical mass hero clichés. Nidhi Pradeep (Maaya) impresses in her debut, bringing confidence and conviction to her role. Jagapathi Babu (Sam Babu) leaves a mark, though his screen time feels limited. Sudarshan provides comic relief in supporting scenes.
Director Subash Chandra maintains a steady but sometimes sluggish pace. Naga Vamshi’s music stands out, with melodious tracks that elevate the narrative. Saai Santosh’s cinematography beautifully captures the Godavari atmosphere. Editing by Anil Pasala could have been tighter, as the film feels stretched.
'Godari Gattupaina' offers charming music and sincere performances, but the formulaic romance and pacing issues hold it back. Fans of musical rural dramas like 'Raja Vaaru Rani Gaaru' might enjoy its Godavari flavor, but others may find it predictable. Light watch for fans of the genre. Rating – 3/5
