Suriya’s blockbuster film Karuppu, which recently premiered on Prime Video, is under the spotlight for its visual effects. The fantasy action drama, helmed by RJ Balaji, delivered a resounding box office performance, grossing over ₹300 crores and marking a high point in Suriya’s illustrious career.
As the film reached a wider OTT audience, viewers began highlighting flaws in the digital face swap during the Singham recreation scene. Social media quickly buzzed with comments about the graphics, with many feeling that the CG work did not meet expectations in the streaming version.
Addressing these concerns, director RJ Balaji openly acknowledged the limitations faced during production. He explained, “It takes 8-10 months for a company to work on CG for a head replacement scene. The payment has to be made well in advance. But due to our situation, we couldn’t honour the payment deadline for the CG company. We used minimal shots for the Singam fight.” Balaji further admitted, “We could have done it better; we didn’t do it better. It’s a mistake. Sorry for the underwhelming OTT experience.”
Despite the setback, fans remain eager for Balaji’s next move, with the director assuring improvements in future projects and hinting at a keener focus on technical finesse going forward.
