Yash’s much-awaited comeback film, "Toxic," has encountered another setback as its planned June 4, 2026 release now appears unlikely. Following the blockbuster success of "KGF," Yash’s next with director Geethu Mohandas was expected to be a grand return, but disagreements over OTT rights have halted progress. KVN Productions is holding out for a ₹250 crore digital deal, while platforms are reportedly only offering ₹110 crore. Yash himself remains steadfast on a "theatre first" policy, refusing OTT previews before theatrical release, further complicating negotiations.

The ensemble cast of "Toxic" includes Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth. Meanwhile, KVN Productions is also managing Vijay’s "Jana Nayagan," awaiting political clarity in Tamil Nadu before setting new release plans for both films. With the buzz around "Toxic" wavering its teasers creating only fleeting excitement—industry watchers are keenly observing if Yash can sustain his pan-India momentum.

As May Day weekend approaches, Telugu audiences can look forward to a slate of OTT premieres. Notably, "Sodhara," starring Sampoornesh Babu, finally debuts on Aha after a year, while "Biker" and "Raakaasa" land on Netflix. The Kannada hit "Love Mocktail 3" is set for a ZEE5 release soon, with its exact date awaited. In Tamil, "TN 2026" takes an unconventional route, premiering across five OTT platforms just 20 days post-theatrical run, a move aimed at maximizing reach.

Amidst these digital developments, the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) is making headlines with a proposed revenue share model and a one-day industry strike over OTT window rules. Their meeting on May 5 with producers across South India could shape future release strategies. With digital deals, release dates, and industry reforms all in flux, South Indian cinema is set for significant changes in the coming weeks.
