Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has taken decisive steps after it was revealed that 81 habitual petitioners have each filed an average of 246 complaints, raising concerns over the misuse of grievance mechanisms. This move comes as part of the government's ongoing efforts to streamline public services and ensure that genuine issues receive prompt attention.

During a review at the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) Centre, Chandrababu Naidu instructed officials to identify individuals who repeatedly submit grievances, particularly those aimed at maligning the administration or public servants. He emphasized that such petitioners should undergo counselling, while legitimate complaints in the public interest must continue to be addressed. "We must distinguish between genuine grievances and those intended to defame," the Chief Minister said, according to official sources.

The administration plans to share details of these frequent petitioners with district collectors for further examination. Additionally, Naidu directed departments to resolve non-financial complaints swiftly and prioritize financial grievances based on available resources. Addressing public concerns, he dismissed rumors about the privatisation of Sub-Registrar offices, clarifying that the new Registration Service Centres are designed to enhance citizen convenience, not privatize government functions. "All statutory powers will remain with the government," he assured, drawing parallels with the Passport Seva Kendra model.

Chandrababu also addressed the livelihoods of document writers, promising to safeguard their interests and explore alternative employment options if needed. On welfare initiatives, he instructed officials to ensure timely crediting of LPG subsidies under the Deepam 2.0 scheme and called for coordinated efforts between departments. With Andhra Pradesh facing a 49% rainfall deficit due to El Niño, the Chief Minister urged proactive measures, including promoting drought-resistant crops and strengthening water conservation efforts.

Looking ahead, the government is set to intensify awareness campaigns about new service models and continue refining grievance redressal processes, aiming for more responsive and citizen-friendly governance.
