Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has taken a decisive step for the state's infrastructure by meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several key Union Ministers in Delhi this week. Naidu, who recently returned to the Chief Minister's office, focused his two-day visit on securing Central approvals and support for major projects, including the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail and the proposed Beach Corridor.
During his meetings, Naidu pressed for the Centre’s green light on the Vizag Metro, a project seen as crucial for the city’s urban development. He also advocated for the Beach Corridor, aiming to boost connectivity and tourism along the coastal stretch. The Chief Minister’s agenda extended to river-linking initiatives, seeking progress on projects that could address water scarcity in the state.
With parts of Andhra Pradesh experiencing drought-like conditions due to the El Niño effect, Naidu requested special financial aid from Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to support relief measures. He further sought Central assistance for the Godavari Pushkarams, a significant event scheduled for next year, and discussed the proposed Rayalaseema Global Horticulture Hub with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Naidu’s discussions with Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil focused on strategies to utilize Godavari floodwaters that currently flow into the sea, as well as advancing river-linking projects. He also met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and other senior officials. Before concluding his visit, Naidu joined Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal at the CII Partnership Conference Curtain Raiser in Delhi, underlining his commitment to attracting investment and partnerships for Andhra Pradesh.
