Revanth Reddy Removes Konda Surekha From Telangana Cabinet, Sends Recommendation to Governor

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has removed Minister Konda Surekha from the state Cabinet, marking a significant shift in the Congress-led government. The official communication, issued on Thursday, confirms that the Chief Minister has already forwarded his recommendation for Surekha’s removal to the Governor of Telangana, setting the constitutional process in motion.

This decision comes against the backdrop of ongoing discussions within the Congress party about Konda Surekha’s position in the Cabinet. In late August, her continued presence had become a topic of debate among party leaders, following recommendations from the Congress disciplinary committee due to various controversies. The latest move formalizes those internal deliberations, making her exit from the Council of Ministers imminent upon the Governor’s approval.

Alongside this major cabinet change, the government has announced a series of new appointments to influential posts. Dr G. Chinna Reddy has been relieved from his role as Vice Chairman of the Telangana Planning Board, with Gadwal Vijayalakshmi stepping in as his successor. In a further reshuffle, Nerella Sharada has been named Chairperson of the Telangana State Commission for Women, and former Rajya Sabha MP G. Sudha Rani has been appointed Chairperson of the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA).
