The Warangal PM MITRA Mega Textile Park in Telangana is falling behind other states in attracting investment, with only ₹3,800 crore in investment interest registered so far. Recent data presented in the Lok Sabha highlights that Telangana's share is just about 5.5% of the total ₹68,590 crore investment interest received by all seven PM MITRA Parks across India.
Madhya Pradesh leads the pack, securing investment interest of ₹19,846 crore, followed by Gujarat at ₹13,094 crore and Maharashtra at ₹12,000 crore. Uttar Pradesh has drawn ₹5,354 crore, while Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have reported even lower figures than Telangana, at ₹2,067.90 crore and ₹1,700 crore respectively.
Despite having 1,020 acres available for the brownfield textile park, Warangal's progress remains modest. The data reveals that 300 units of internal infrastructure have been completed, with another 165 units still under development. The Telangana government has spent ₹123.93 crore on external infrastructure for the project.
The central government has allocated a total outlay of ₹4,445 crore for the PM MITRA scheme for the period 2021-22 to 2027-28, with detailed project reports worth ₹13,537 crore finalized for all seven parks. Each park, once operational, is projected to generate around 3 lakh jobs, including one lakh direct and two lakh indirect employment opportunities.
