Amaravati Legislature Design Reviewed: Focus on Assembly, Media, and Future Needs

The Amaravati Legislative Assembly project is under detailed review as the Andhra Pradesh government examines every aspect of its design, from the main chamber to media facilities. At a high-level meeting chaired by Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu, representatives from Foster + Partners, the architectural firm involved, presented their proposals for the new Assembly building within the Amaravati Government Complex.

Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, Minister Nadendla Manohar, Legislature Secretary General Prasanna Kumar Suryadevara, and other senior officials took part in the discussions. The review focused on three main pillars: architectural style, day-to-day functionality, and adaptability for future requirements.

Officials emphasized that the Assembly building should not only meet international standards but also reflect Andhra Pradesh’s unique identity. The design is expected to incorporate elements that showcase the state’s history, culture, and the democratic spirit of its legislature. According to those present, the planning process is paying close attention to practical needs, including the Assembly chamber, committee halls, offices for legislators, and dedicated spaces for journalists.

Movement within the complex was another major topic, with discussions on how legislators, staff, media, and visitors will access and navigate the building. Security, parking, and technology infrastructure are also being carefully considered to ensure smooth functioning and safety.

A key concern is future-proofing the Assembly so it remains relevant as institutional needs evolve. The government is reviewing the design to allow for future expansion and technological upgrades. As one of the flagship institutions in the Amaravati Government Complex, the Assembly’s design is now being fine-tuned to balance tradition with the demands of a modern capital.
