Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh is at the forefront of efforts to locate and rescue seven state residents who have been reported missing or stranded amid severe flooding in Nepal. The state government confirmed that four individuals have already been traced and are safe, while the search continues for three others.
The missing persons include Bala Subramanyam from Kuppam, and Sasi Kumar and Rajyalakshmi Nimmagadda, who were travelling as part of the Isha Foundation Group S3. According to official information, Sasi Kumar was last seen at the Gyrong Embassy in China. Meanwhile, Bhaskar Shastri and three others from Adoni and Kurnool, who were part of a 156-member group on a pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar, have been located but remain stranded due to ongoing disruptions.
Lokesh is actively coordinating with AP Bhavan, the Ministry of External Affairs, and diplomatic authorities from India, China, and Nepal, as well as the Gyrong Immigration Centre and Isha Foundation. The Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) is also involved in monitoring and facilitating rescue operations. The affected regions, including Syapru Besi, BC, and Timure, are key transit points for pilgrims and have been hit hard by the floods, which initial reports attribute to an ice-rock avalanche in the Lhende River.
Rescue operations are being carried out by the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and paramilitary forces. The Andhra Pradesh government has advised stranded travellers to stay in safe areas and maintain contact with embassies.
