Ranveer Singh’s Don 3 Row Escalates as Legal Teams Face Off at IMPPA

Ranveer Singh and the film Don 3 are back in the spotlight as the ongoing controversy over the project’s fallout intensifies. Ranveer, who was announced as the new Don in 2023, exited the film directed by Farhan Akhtar and produced by Excel Entertainment, leading to a series of disputes between the actor and the production house. Farhan Akhtar, known for his directorial work and recent projects, along with producer Ritesh Sidhwani, approached the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) seeking compensation after Ranveer’s departure.

At IMPPA’s latest meeting, Ranveer Singh’s legal team submitted a letter urging the association not to intervene in the matter. The letter warned that any resolution passed against the actor would prompt legal action. According to reports, Ranveer’s representatives argued that there was no formal agreement with Excel Entertainment, only a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and questioned IMPPA’s authority to adjudicate the dispute. They stated that if Excel Entertainment wished to pursue the issue, it should approach the courts directly.

IMPPA president Abhay Sinha confirmed that both parties have presented their positions and that the association’s legal team is currently reviewing the submissions. The dispute has previously involved other industry bodies, with FWICE issuing and later withdrawing a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh. The focus now shifts to whether the producers’ association has the jurisdiction to decide the matter, as no final decision has been announced yet.
