Jaskirat Singh Rangi didn't just cross borders, he crossed ₹240 crore on Day 1. Dhurandhar 2, featuring Ranveer Singh in the lead, has unleashed a box office rampage with a roaring ₹240 crore gross worldwide on its very first day, marking the most explosive opening for any Indian film in recent years. The high-octane spy thriller, helmed by Aditya Dhar, has become the talk of the industry by crossing the ₹200 crore milestone globally within just twenty-four hours of its release.
Looking at the numbers closely, the film amassed a staggering ₹145 crore net (₹174 crore gross) domestically after Thursday, with ₹66 crore pouring in from overseas markets. In India, Thursday’s net collections stood at ₹102 crore, the largest-ever single-day haul for a Hindi film, while paid premieres on Wednesday contributed an additional ₹41 crore net. The Hindi version alone ran to packed houses in Telugu states Telangana and Andhra Pradesh even before the Telugu dubbed version’s arrival, signalling immense pan-Indian appeal.
Compared to recent blockbusters, Dhurandhar 2’s opening eclipses giants like RRR (₹223 crore), Baahubali 2 (₹214 crore), and KGF Chapter 2 (₹159 crore). Ranveer Singh, riding high off this triumph, now adds another feather to his cap, while Aditya Dhar cements his status as a box office powerhouse after the first Dhurandhar’s ₹1300 crore global haul just months ago.
On the breakeven front, the producers, Jio Studios and B62 Studios, are already in pure profit territory. The entire investment was recouped with the first part, so every rupee from Dhurandhar 2 is sheer profit an enviable position that puts most other big releases this season in the shade.
The film’s momentum has continued into day two with early estimates suggesting over ₹72 crore nett, and advance bookings for the weekend are brisk, especially with the Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam versions launching. With festival holidays and a widening screen count, the film is poised for a thunderous first weekend in Telugu-speaking territories and across India.
Looking ahead, Dhurandhar 2 is on track to storm past the ₹1500 crore mark in its full run like cake walk, and industry chatter is already rife about its potential to set new all-time records. With regional versions yet to unleash their full power and audience buzz at a fever pitch, expect this mayhem to continue, possibly heralding a new era for pan-Indian blockbusters.
