Akhil Akkineni’s much-anticipated rural drama Lenin is making headlines with its thoughtful release strategy. Originally slated for a 1st May premiere, the film will now arrive in cinemas on 26th June, following a conscious decision by the makers to accommodate the box office run of Ram Charan’s Peddi, which has now locked 30th April as its release date.
Director Murali Krishna Abburu, who previously helmed Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha, is keen to see Akhil score his first major box office hit with Lenin. The film, featuring Bhagyashree Borse as the female lead and Shivaji in a pivotal role, explores the sensitive and socially relevant theme of honour killings. The production brings together Sithara Entertainments and Annapurna Studios, with Naga Vamsi and Nagarjuna Akkineni backing the project.
Industry insiders have highlighted the strong rapport between Akhil and Ram Charan as a key factor influencing Lenin’s postponement. According to the makers, "both the films should do well at the box office," reflecting a spirit of camaraderie that fans have warmly appreciated online. Such gestures, where stars support each other’s releases, are being seen as a positive move for the industry at large.
With Lenin now set for a June release, all eyes are on how Akhil’s performance and the film’s bold subject will resonate with Telugu audiences. More updates on promotions and advance bookings are expected soon.
