Baahubali The Eternal War is capturing international attention as it readies for a prestigious showcase at the Annecy International Film Festival's Work in Progress lineup this June. This animated saga, rooted in S. S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster Baahubali universe, is being hailed as a trailblazer for Indian animation on the world stage.

After the phenomenal success of Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion, the franchise continues to expand its creative horizons. Directed by renowned animation filmmaker Ishan Shukla and produced by Arka Media, the two-part 3D spectacle explores the afterlife of Prince Baahubali, embroiled in an eternal war between Devas and Asuras across 14 mythical realms. Shobu Yarlagadda shared, “We have been working for nearly two years with animation filmmaker Ishan Shukla on this project based in the Baahubali universe,” underlining the commitment to innovation and collaboration with both Indian and international teams.

Rajamouli expressed excitement for the new direction, stating, “Ishan came and told the story of how we can extend the Baahubali world into something else. It is still the Baahubali characters in that space, but taken completely into a different tangent.” The screenplay, crafted by Scott Mosier, promises a stylised and cosmic extension of the beloved saga.

With Baahubali The Eternal War sharing the Annecy spotlight alongside acclaimed titles like 'Snoopy Unleashed' and Netflix’s 'Steps', social media buzz is growing, and fans are celebrating this as a proud moment for Indian animation. The anticipation is palpable as the project aims to set a new benchmark for homegrown anime. Audiences now await the final release, with hopes high for this to be a defining achievement in India's animation journey.
