Ram Charan’s much-awaited film Peddi has run into fresh trouble in Telangana, just weeks before its scheduled release. Despite earlier assurances from the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, exhibitors have now openly resisted ticket price hikes, raising new concerns for the sports action drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana, who earned acclaim with his previous film.
The ongoing standoff revolves around the percentage-sharing model for box office collections. At a recent press conference, the exhibitors, represented by General Secretary Sridhar, stated, “We are not given any clarity from the producers and they are asking more time to finalize the percentage system. For Peddi film, we need a percentage system and the percentage can be finalized through talks.” This ultimatum included a firm refusal to allow ticket price hikes, with exhibitors informing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of their stance, citing worries over dwindling theatre footfalls.
Amidst mounting anxiety among Ram Charan fans and trade circles, the Telugu Film Chamber responded with a letter from President Suresh Babu, clarifying that exhibitors have agreed to the percentage model in principle, and that final terms will be settled before June’s end. The Chamber assured that Peddi’s release should not be hampered by these ongoing negotiations.
As anticipation builds and discussions continue, all eyes are on the resolution of these industry disputes, with fans hoping Peddi will hit screens without further complications.
