Ravi Teja opted for a profit-sharing model in Irumudi, taking ₹7 crore upfront.

Irumudi collected ₹4.3 crore share on opening day in Nizam territory.

Trade predicts a ₹20 crore lifetime share for the film in Nizam region.

Industry leaders see this model as beneficial for both actors and producers.

Ravi Teja, known as the Mass Maharaja of Telugu cinema, has struck gold with his latest film, Irumudi. After facing a challenging period marked by several underperforming films, Ravi Teja made a strategic shift in his approach for Irumudi, opting for a profit-sharing model instead of a fixed fee. For this emotional family thriller directed by Shiva Nirvana, he accepted ₹7 crore as upfront remuneration, with the rest of his earnings tied to the film's share from the Nizam region's box office rights.

This calculated decision has turned out to be highly rewarding. On its opening day, Irumudi collected an impressive ₹4.3 crore share (excluding GST) in the Nizam territory alone. Trade analysts are now predicting that the film could achieve a lifetime share of ₹20 crore in this region, which would significantly boost Ravi Teja's earnings from the project.

The production house behind Irumudi has benefited from this arrangement as well, as it reduces the initial financial burden and aligns the actor's interests closely with the film's performance. Industry voices, including Dil Raju, have pointed out that Bollywood stars have been using similar revenue-sharing models, which have proven advantageous for both producers and actors. If more Tollywood actors embrace this approach, it could reshape the economics of Telugu film production.

Earlier this year, reports highlighted Ravi Teja's transition away from a strict remuneration model, and Irumudi marks the first major success of this new strategy. With Shiva Nirvana at the helm, the film's strong box office showing signals a positive turn for Ravi Teja and may encourage other stars to consider profit-sharing deals in future projects.
