Salman Khan’s highly awaited action drama, Maatrubhumi, is facing a fresh wave of delays as government approvals and censorship hurdles stall its release. The film, directed by Apoorva Lakhia and originally titled Battle of Galwan, has already undergone a major transformation following intervention from the Ministry of Defence, who requested the makers to fictionalize the story to prevent any diplomatic concerns with China.
In response, Salman Khan reportedly reshot nearly 40% of the film, infusing more romance and backstory into his character. Chitrangadha Singh stars alongside Khan as the female lead, with the production team making significant efforts to align with the new guidelines. Despite these changes, the film’s release initially rumored for May has now been tentatively moved to June, pending the necessary government clearances. According to sources, the film’s latest promotional materials have not featured a revised release date, further fueling speculation about its timeline.
Fans, meanwhile, are expressing doubts about the project’s prospects, with social media abuzz over whether Salman Khan can deliver another surprise hit under these challenging circumstances. The delays have also led to speculation about how the reworked narrative will resonate with audiences.
Looking ahead, Salman Khan is preparing for his next venture with producer Dil Raju, and a superhero project helmed by Raj Nidimoru & Krishna Dasarakothapalli, set to begin later this year. All eyes now remain on when Maatrubhumi will finally see its theatrical debut.
