Sudha Kongara in Legal Battle Over ₹8.39 Crore Remuneration for Parasakthi
Director Sudha Kongara, known for her impactful storytelling, has taken legal action by approaching the Madras High Court over unpaid dues amounting to ₹8.39 crore from the producers of her recent film Parasakthi. This development comes after a string of challenges for the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer, which previously faced copyright disputes and certification delays before its eventual release.
Sudha Kongara, who has built a strong reputation with her previous films, claims that the producers have not settled her remuneration despite the film’s theatrical run. The Madras High Court, in its initial hearing, reportedly directed that the satellite rights of Parasakthi should remain untouched until the matter is addressed further, setting the next hearing for July 8. In addition, Sudha seeks to halt the release of Idhayam Murali, another upcoming film by the same production house, slated for July 10, until her dues are cleared.
The case has revived media and industry attention on Parasakthi, a project that has already weathered legal storms. As the dispute unfolds, many in the film fraternity are watching closely, awaiting the court’s decision, which could impact not just Sudha’s settlement but also the producer's next ventures.
With the next hearing on July 8, all eyes are on the Madras High Court for a verdict that could shape the future of both Parasakthi’s rights and the release of Idhayam Murali.
